Yoga is the ancient tradition which links movement, breath and relaxation. Yoga is an excellent way to develop strength, stamina, flexibility, concentration and co-ordination.
Iyengar Yoga does not just simply work on the muscles to increase strength and make us supple, it enhances concentration by paying attention to detail.
The Iyengar style encourages precision in the postures, which helps develop an awareness of alignment, effort and relaxation. Yoga also helps to detoxify the body, and can bring about a balanced state of mind, and feelings of lightness, well-being and vitality.
“Grace, beauty, strength, energy and firmness adorn the body through Yoga”
(Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra 111.47)
An ideal introduction to Iyengar yoga for complete beginners. The focus of the course will be mainly on standing postures which aim to build up strength, flexibility and stamina. There will also be practice of supine and seated postures as well as practice of Sarvangasana (shoulderstand).
Alternatively you can drop in to our beginners / level 1 classes, which are also suitable.
